My personal studio practice has become more defined and capable of conveying information as well as a stronger understanding and development into more aesthetically pleasing pieces, but while the general visual appearance may create a certain "grunge" look, the thought process can be and has the tendency to be a lot more open and abstract with the exploration of aesthetics texture and the nature of symbiotic relationships. My process is not planned but more along the lines of instinctive, I create pieces to explore how texture and shape can relate to one another and ultimately how a relationship can form between the graphic and the mark. The usage of real world objects and materials helps me completely abstract the original intended form into something with needs and wants, so by firstly creating pieces on their own I can then discover "what else" is needed which in this case opens up the topic of symbiotics. |
